LATEST | Allvin explains the reasoning behind the captain announcement: Canucks turning over a new tide
Patrik Allvin took over the Jim Benning massacre, and we're finally seeing the change this team desperately needed. It's been a little over a year and a half since the new management has been in place, and Allvin and Rutherford's surgery has started.
Rutherford stated that the team needed major surgery, and since then, he and Allvin have started bringing their own colours into the team. From the coaching change that was meant to bring more defensive structure and accountability, the many trades that ultimately led to the former Captain Bo Horvat heading off to New York, to the addition of Filip Hronek.
The Canucks took a major step forward today in announcing the team's newest captain Quinn Hughes. The team's General Manager, Patrik Allvin, took a stand alongside Hughes and Tocchet today and explained what it meant for the franchise moving forward:
''Patrik Allvin says they are unveiling Hughes as captain now because they wanted a fresh start and to turn the page before the start of training camp.''
Ever since Horvat was sent to New York, Hughes stepped his game up, and everybody took notice. Putting the 'C' on his jersey means he becomes the new culture setter. The team is now turning a tide in their history. Are these bases going to be enough to make the Canucks glorious again?
