The Canucks have been lucky drafting goaltenders with late draft picks, and it appears that this 2018 selection's stock is rising.

Matthew Thiessen was the Canucks' 192nd overall selection 2018 out of Steinbach, Manitoba, where he played with the Steinbachs in the MJHL. The prospect then went to the USHL before graduating to the NCAA, where he now plays with the University of Minnesota-Duluth.

The prospect was stellar over the weekend, and the NCHC named him the goaltender of the week after he put up an outstanding 47-save performance:

#Canucks    Matthew Thiessen was this week's NCHC Goaltender of the Week.

He made 55 saves over the weekend, which includes a 47-save performance on Saturday.

Now a Senior, he could be looking to transition to the pros at the end of the year, and a strong season could earn him a spot in the Canucks' goaltending pipeline.
