LATEST | Canucks linked to a controversial defenseman
The Canucks are continuing to look for a defenseman, specifically a right side defenseman, as they remain among the league's top teams.
The Carolina Hurricanes are one team with an abundance of NHL D, and have been rumoured to be interested in trading one for help at forward.
That led one Twitter/X user to speculate: could Tony DeAngelo be a good fit to bolster the Canucks' blue line?
DeAngelo is in his 2nd stint with the Hurricanes after being bought out by the Flyers this past summer.
He is a talented offensive defenseman with a questionable defensive presence, and his off-ice antics (including being a vocal Trump supporter) have at times overshadowed his play and lead to division with his teammates.
This year, DeAngelo has 7 points in 16 games and his -10 rating is second worst on a Hurricanes team that has struggled out of the gate.
DeAngelo is one of four pending UFA defensemen on the Hurricanes' roster.
