Edmonton Oilers forward Leon Draisaitl showed his frustration just over the midway point of the third period and took an undisciplined penalty.
While trying to clear the puck from in front of the Vancouver net, Canucks defenceman Ian Cole took a hard slash to the back of his calf from Draisaitl. As can be seen below, both officials noticed the slash right away and put their arms up.
On the broadcast however, Louie DeBrusk, who mainly calls Oilers games on Sportsnet, tried to say that Draisaitl was going for the puck. But the video speaks for itself and Draisaitl's intent to slash Cole is crystal clear.
Draisaitl finished the game with four penalty minutes after taking another penalty prior to the slash for cross-checking Canucks forward Elias Pettersson. The Canucks capitalized on that power-play with J.T. Miller making it 7-1 at that point.
The two teams will meet again on Hockey Night in Canada on Saturday night in Edmonton, Alberta, with puck drop set for 7 p.m. PT/10 p.m. ET.
