LATEST | NHL issues a statement on former Canuck forward
In July 2016 the Canucks took a swing at a young prospect coming from the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. Off a stellar 47 goals and 89 points 19-year-old season in the Juniors the Canucks' scout thought they could make an elite goalscorer out of Michael Carcone.
Two below average years in the organization before he finally took the step and registered 17 points in 20 AHL games, but it was too little to late, the Canucks had already plan to use him as trade bait and landed Josh Leivo.
FAST FORWARD TO THE FUTURE: CANUCKS REGRETTING?
Fast forward a few years into the future, Carcone has finally been given a true opportunity at the NHL level and he's been taking full advantage of it. Carcone scored his 12th of the season after only 23 games and is on pace for over 40 goals.
The NHL issued a statement regarding his prowess:
'Michael Carcone scored his team-leading 12th tally of the season to extend his home goal streak and help the @ArizonaCoyotes defeat another recent #StanleyCup winner''
Carcone is definitely the former Canuck who's having the most success at this point in the season. It took the 27-year-old 8 years to finally reach his full potential, a good indicator that patience pays off pretty good at times.
