After just 24 games with the Vancouver Canucks, nobody expected to hear Nikita Zadorov's name in trade rumours.

Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, however, suggested on The Jeff Marek show that the newest Canuck could be a player moved to open up cap space.

I wonder a bit about Zadorov,
Friedman said.
I think they're going to clear some room to open up the ability for them to do something.

The Canucks are cap strapped with just over a million in space and aren't accruing cap space due to their usage of LTIR relief, they will have to move money to make the impactful additions Patrik Allvin and Jim Rutherford want to make.

Friedman mentioned Kuzmenko's name as a more likely trade candidate, but with an expiring contract Zadorov could be easier to move.

The big defenceman makes $3.75 million, and has averaged just over 18 minutes a game since coming to Vancouver.
