Vancouver Canucks captain Quinn Hughes' anticipated appearance at the inaugural 4 Nations Face-Off tournament this week is in doubt as he "agonizes" over the decision to play.

with 30 games left in the NHL season, Vancouver Canucks captain Quinn Hughes is surely on his way to win his second consecutive Norris Trophy as the leagues most valuable defenseman, but injuries are are doing their best to keep him out.

Should Quinn Hughes risk his season to play in the 4 Nations Face-Off?

With the announcement last night by head coach Rick Tocchet, Captain Quinn Hughes was forced to sit out n the win against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
His absence in last night's contest marks the 4th consecutive game that he has sat in the press-box due to a lingering injury.
NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman Said that the Canucks organization has given Hughes the greenlight to make whatever decision he wants when it comes to playing for Team USA.
he continued saying that Hughes is torn and does not know what the right thing to do is.
«It's his call, I think the Canucks are leaving this up to him,» Friedman reported. «I've heard he's just agonizing over it I think he feels the pressure, I think he wants to play for Team USA.

«I think we get a decision either later Saturday night or Sunday before the teams go into Montreal, but I heard he's really agonizing with the decision.» - Elliotte Friedman

At the end of the say, Hughes is having an MVP and Norris-worthy season.
While representing his country would be a major honor, his priority should be to stay healthy and heal his injuries for the Canucks incase they make a run in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
He is the teams rock, and without him, they have no real chance at ahceiving their ultimate goal.
Sitting out now could prevent an smaller injury from becoming a more serious one down the road.
Long-term success and the regular season sure mean more than a two-week tournament.
