Former Vancouver Canucks forward Brad Richardson, who is now part of the Missin Curfew podcast, has shared an interesting story about what he told Patrik Allvin to do regarding J.T. Miller during an exit meeting.

We're less than a week into the post-J.T. Miller era in Vancouver after he was dealt to the New York Rangers on Friday and so far, both teams have enjoyed some success.

Brad Richardson shares what he told Patrik Allvin to do regarding J.T. Miller in exit meeting

Many experts around the National Hockey League have shared their thoughts on the Vancouver Canucks' decision to trade J.T. Miller last week.
Some feel that it was a necessary move given the reported rift between him and Elias Pettersson, while others believe that the Vancouver Canucks are going to regret this deal in the years to come.
Former Vancouver Canucks forward Brad Richardson gave his thoughts on the trade, but also shared an interesting story about what he told Patrik Allvin to do regarding J.T. Miller in an exit meeting.
Richardson, who wrapped up his career with the Vancouver Canucks in 2021-22, told Patrik Allvin that the club needed to surround J.T. Miller with veterans to get the most out of him.
"What I think they messed up on and I told this guy [Patrik Allvin] in my exit meeting, I had only been there a short time but I knew career was over and I just going to tell this guy honestly and I love J.T. Miller. Great guy, I'd take him on my team. But I told him, you've got to surround a guy like J.T. Miller with veteran players or you're going to be f**ked. That's how you calm J.T. Miller down. You've got to have a veteran group that knows how to settle him down at the right times when he gets a little off the rails, cause he does. But you want him, if get him dialed in he's an unbelievable player." Richardson said.

Flash forward three years, J.T. Miller had some great seasons as a Vancouver Canuck, including a 103-point campaign in 2023-24, but given that rift with him and Elias Pettersson, the organization had to move quickly to not only salvage the core, but their playoff chances as well or else the room would've blown up.
The Vancouver Canucks will face their former teammate in just over a month in New York and it'll be interesting to see if any bad blood boils over between him and Elias Pettersson or if that will be addressed at the 4 Nations Face-Off when Sweden plays the United States on February 17th.
