Insider Frank Seravalli Provides Exciting News on the Thatcher Demko Injury Situation
The Vancouver Canucks have been navigating life without their star goaltender, Thatcher Demko, since Game 1 of last year's first-round playoff series against the Nashville Predators. But Canucks fans might not have to wait much longer to see him back between the pipes.
Demko, sidelined due to a popliteus muscle injury behind his knee, left a significant gap in the team's lineup. Despite this setback, the club has shown resilience. Last season, Arturs Silovs stepped up admirably, guiding the Canucks to the second round of the playoffs. This season, Kevin Lankinen has carried the mantle, playing a pivotal role in the team's impressive 7-2-3 record, which places them third in the Pacific Division with 17 points from 12 games.
However, there's promising news on the horizon. According to insider Frank Seravalli on Daily Faceoff Live, Demko's return could be just around the corner:
«There's a growing hope that Thatcher Demko will be back for the Vancouver Canucks before the end of November, Seravalli shared. «That's a big step forward. You saw him join the boys for the optional morning skate in Los Angeles yesterday. Now, the goal will be to stack two weeks of solid practice on top of each other. Demko is feeling pretty good. He's feeling confident, like he has turned the corner. The Canucks aren't putting any pressure or timeline on it, but that is the hope - with two weeks of solid practice - that Demko could return before the end of the month.»
Seravalli's update, prompted by Tyler Yaremchuk's inquiry, comes as a beacon of hope for Canucks fans eager to see their top goalie back in action. While the team's goaltending depth has been impressive, a healthy Demko would provide an additional boost as they push deeper into the season.
For now, Lankinen continues to hold down the fort admirably. But if all goes according to plan, the Canucks could soon welcome back a vital piece of their roster-just in time for some critical matchups as the season progresses.
