New York Rangers Place Pair of Veterans on Trade Block: Opportunity for Canucks & Patrik Allvin?
The New York Rangers have reported placed a pair of veterans and members of their leadership group on the trade block as they try to shake things up.
After a tough 6-2 loss to the Edmonton Oilers on Saturday night, it appears that the New York Rangers are gearing up to make a deal or two, according to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman.
Pair of New York Rangers veterans land on trade block
In a post on X on Monday morning, Elliotte Friedman mentioned that the New York Rangers are interested in making some moves and potentially shaking up their roster.
He went on to reveal that among the names that are out there are captain Jacob Trouba, who's been in trade rumours for months now, as well as Chris Kreider, who's been with them since 2012.
"In the aftermath of their 6-2 loss in Edmonton on Saturday, the Rangers have made it very clear they are interested in making moves and shaking up their roster.
Among the names indicated are Chris Kreider and Jacob Trouba, although other options will be considered." Friedman said.
Could the Vancouver Canucks and New York Rangers be trade partners?
There's no question that the Vancouver Canucks are monitoring the trade market to see what options they have on the defensive side of things, as they continue to search for a top-four blueliner.
While Jacob Trouba might not make the most sense for Rick Tocchet's group, Noah Strang of Daily Hive suggests that they could take a look at two other defensemen on the New York Rangers - K'Andre Miller and Braden Schneider.
"Miller would instantly be one of the Canucks' most intriguing blueliners and become a significant part of the team's future plans.
Braden Schneider is another young defenceman who the Canucks could go after. He's right-handed, so is a slightly better fit than Miller, but is less proven at the NHL level. He has seven points and is +10 across 19 NHL games this year. He's also just 23-years-old." Strang said.
As for the cost to acquire one of these blueliners? Noah Strang believes that Swedish forward Nils Hoglander could be involved in the trade package going back to the Rangers, if Patrik Allvin is interested in bringing in either Miller or Schneider.
With just over 100 days to go until the National Hockey League's trade deadline, action will begin heating up in the coming weeks and there's no doubt Patrik Allvin will bring a top-four defenseman to Vancouver at some point.
