Sidney Crosby doesn't hold back emotion after Penguins collapse to the Vancouver Canucks
There is not much more Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby has to prove in the NHL, 1,600 points, 3 x Stanley Cup Champion, 2 x Hart Trophy is just to name a few, but his will to win is still as high as ever, which is clear with his recent comments.
With the performance in the last couple of seasons, it is starting to look like the time has come where the golden era of Pittsburgh Penguins hockey with Kris Letang, Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin is coming close to an end.
This type of reality showcased itself when our Vancouver Canucks took on the Penguins on Saturday (October 26th). The Penguins got off to a strong start, as they held an early 2-0 lead, but ultimately, had somewhat of a collapse and ended up losing.
Crosby, the leader and captain that he is, did not hold back his emotion and comments in the post-game interview. He was not shy to put the blame on the team as a whole, highlighting the teams bad habits of allowing momentum to start to build up, as well as the teams inability to close out games.
Sidney Crosby comments on their loss to the Vancouver Canucks
«We had a good third, so try to build off of that - that urgency, that desperation. For most of the game we did a lot of good things. We've got to find a way to not to allow momentum or chances to add up and pile up and make that the difference in the game, because we're working too hard to generate other chances to do good things to give it away like that.»
In another interview, where Crosby sat down with the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, he continued to back up his points form the night earlier, saying this kind of performance will not be tolerated moving forward.
«We just can't chase a mistake with another one. There's got to be a certain awareness when we do give up one. We've got to follow it up with a good shift or at least get the momentum back and try to counter that."
At 37-years-old, the chances of Crosby getting back to a Stanley Cup final is slim as he singed a two-year, $17.4 million contract extension with the Pittsburgh Penguins. With how the team is performing, it was be sad not see one of the best players of all time get back to the playoffs.
