Vancouver Canucks Goaltender Arturs Silovs had a massive bounce back game on Saturday night at Rogers Arena against Connor Bedard and the Chicago Blackhawks.
Vancouver's six-game homestand continued on Saturday night as the team hosted Chicago and with a back-to-back this weekend, head coach Rick Tocchet
turned to Arturs Silovs to get the start against the Blackhawks.
It's been a tough start to the season for Arturs Silovs as coming into the game last night, he didn't have a win under his belt, but that changed on Saturday.
Arturs Silovs has huge bounce back game against Chicago
Arturs Silovs hasn't seen much game action this season. After three starts in October, his last being a 6-0 loss to the New Jersey Devils, Silovs made a brief appearance in last week's defeat to the Edmonton Oilers before being
being assigned to the AHL on November 10th to get some game action.
After one start in Abbotsford, Silovs was brought back up to the Canucks.
Many were wondering how Arturs Silovs would perform on a Saturday night with the spotlight on him, but if there's anything the Latvian netminder can do, it's handle pressure very well.
He showed it at the 2023 IIHF World Championship and during the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs.
The Vancouver Canucks took down the Chicago Blackhawks last night, with Arturs Silovs making 28 saves on 29 shots in a 4-1 win. Arturs Silovs told
reporters after the game that he felt great throughout the night and had a lot of confidence.
"I felt great, had a lot of confidence," Silovs told reporters. "Guys are doing a lot of jobs (in front of me), Like, good (penalty) kill. That gives you a huge boost, especially at the end of the first period. It's crucial. And then we started to play really well in the second and took over."
With the win under his belt, the Riga native now improves to 1-2-1 on the season with a goals against average of 3.86 and an .850 save percentage.
The next time Vancouver Canucks fans will likely see Arturs Silovs between the pipes is on their upcoming six-game road trip.
Vancouver has a back-to-back on November 26th and 27th against the Boston Bruins and Pittsburgh Penguins, respectively.
