The worst-kept secret in the NHL right now is the Canucks' upcoming coaching change. Pending the announcement, Rick Tocchet will be taking over from Bruce Boudreau.

Everyone is still wondering the reason behind this move since you normally don't want to give the reins to a new captain while the boat is sinking. Though it appears that one main reason stands out for a coaching change right now. Farhan Lalji from TSN brought it up on Donnie and Dhali:

» I'll be honest with you, right now you what they're looking for as much as anything else? Somebody that can keep JT Miller in line and hold him accountable...You need somebody who can hold Miller accountable in that locker room and I think that's priority #1»

Funny enough, Elliotte Friedman reported the same thing on his podcast. The Canucks offered $56M to a guy that needs someone to keep him in line? How ironic is that?

Bruce Boudreau has been the Canucks' head coach for the last year and a half. He showed a 50-38-13 record over that span with half an NHL Defense, he certainly deserves more credit and respect for the job he's done.

Do you think the Canucks are right to make a coaching change mid-season? Especially when you're on the verge of trading away your captain?
