BREAKING: Paul Marice and the Panthers fined by the NHL for their comments on the officiating against the Leafs
Paul Maurice has been making headlines for the past couple of days since he openly criticized the officiating in their game against the Maple Leafs earlier this week.
Ironic how the tables have turned, earlier this year it was the Maple Leaf taking the heat after Sheldon Keefe had made comments on the officiating and now the team he plays against receives terrible officiating.
Paul Maurice was ecstatic after their 4-2 loss against the Leafs. He blamed the referee's inability to be impartial due to an existing relationship between both Maurice and the designated referee. Here's the comment he made which ultimately led to today's events:
"It had nothing to do with my players. It had to do with me and a relationship that I have with one of the referees."
In response, the National Hockey League issued a statement earlier today that stated that following the comments he made regarding the game officiating whilst in front of the media awarded a $25K fine.
It's not the first time a coach has taken the stage to openly criticize the officiating and it's not the first time that the league has stepped in and fined the coach, perhaps the league's officiating deserves part of the blame? Paul Maurice seems to think so.
