BREAKINGS: Two Players claimed off waivers
The waivers have been quite busy this year. With the cap being as tight as it is right now, teams have been forced to make challenging moves, just like it was seen recently with Eeli Tolvanen. This time the Buffalo Sabres and the Vegas Golden Knights had to pay the price.
First off the Sabres put defenceman Casey Fitzgerald on waiver wire, but unfortunately for them the Panthers jumped on the occasion and claimed the defenceman.
The 25-year-old Fitzgerald had been with the SAbres for the entirety of his professional career, he had 3 assists in 23 games this season and had a -1 differential. He will be getting a fresh start with the Panthers. He was the Sabres' 3rd Round Pick in 2016.
The Golden Knights lost a much bigger prospect to the Rangers with their 2017 2nd Round Pick being claimed by the Rangers. Jake Leschyshyn will be packing his bags for the big apple. Leschyshyn had yet to register a point in the NHL this year, but he killed it with Henderson last year when he recorded 27 points in 34 outings.
Leschyshyn's first career goal was notably against the Canucks, could the American forward grow into the player he was meant to be with the Rangers?
