If the Canucks wish to be a competitive team, they'll surely need to add behind their two stars. Aatu Raty may be an option down the road, but he's clearly not there yet. The Canucks have an obvious link with the pending UFA Ivan Barbashev, who's represented by Dan Milstein, the agent known to have many players come to agreements with Allvin.
Elliotte Friedman made a really intriguing suggestion on his latest 32 Thoughts Podcast when he wondered if the Canucks could be in the market for the Lightning's pending restricted free agent, Ross Colton.
Colton developed through the Lightning's system and came up big on Tampa Bay's second cup run. He's developed into bonified 3rd line centerman who can play big minutes and fill various roles.
Colton stands at 6'00'' weighs just under 200 pounds, and already has 190 regular seasons games under his belt along with 46 playoff games. He's managed 98 points through it all, could he be what the Canucks' need? He'll a restricted free agent this summer and there is no certainty that the Lightning will be ink him to extension, should Allvin inquire?
