Will it be a forward, or will it be a defenceman, no matter what they choose Allvin was confident in last night's press conference that he'd be selecting a good player. Known to be one of the deepest prospect pools in the last ten years, Canucks' fans are in for a treat!
Craig Button released his post-lottery mock draft and he had the Swede defenceman Axel Sandin Pellikka slotted at 11 for the Canucks. Identified to be the second best defencemen prospect only behind the young Austrian, David Reinbacher.
Thomas Drance identified the latter as the Canucks prime target even though the belief is that he'll be long gone once Allvin and his troops hit the stage. Reinbacher is a 6'02'' and 187 pounds defenseman who played in Switzerland's top league where he managed 22 points in 46 games. Identified as an excellent two-way defenceman who processes the game at an elite level as drawn comparisons to the most recent Calder trophy winner Moritz Seider.
Ranked 5th among European Skaters he could very easily fall onto the Canucks lap, especially with the great deal of talent among the forwards. It's like he was custom-made to play on Hughes' right side. Big, skilled, agile skater, high IQ, if he develops properly and gains the strength he needs, he'll develop to be a force in the NHL just like Moritz Seider.
Isn't this precisely what the Canucks need?
