The Canucks have made major changes since entering 2023, it could even be argued that Jim Rutherford's major surgery has been achieved.

The former Canuck and beloved defenceman is now an analyst for Hockey Night in Canada and was on air earlier today with Don Taylor and Rick Dhaliwal for Donnie and Dhali.

Bieksa was asked what he thought of the Canucks since the coaching change and his response says it all.

'End of the season, amazing, I think Tocchet, Adam Foote, and Gonchar have been really good for them. There are all ex-players and they're all like top gritty, take no shortcuts kind of guys. I just like the habit in the way these guys have competed down the line''

Bieksa brought back the conversation about the culture and opened up Elias Pettersson and Quinn Hughes as being the new generation leaders, but being many different leaders than what Kevin Bieksa and Ryan Kesler were back in their days.

It's fair to say that he sees brighter days for the Canucks. The culture has changed big time and as Bieksa noted, a healthy Thatcher Demko goes a long way.
