MAJOR | Scout makes an overwhelming comparison on Zach Benson: The reason why the Canucks must pick him
The Canucks hold the 11th seed in one of the most talent-loaded drafts in recent history. The Canucks have many needs to fill, but with so many potential 'game-breaking' talent out there, they must be selected out of pure talent and not needs.
A name that's been circulating around the Canucks lately the Langley, BC. Native, Zach Benson. Rick Dhaliwal reported that during the NHL Combine, the youngster was taken out to dinner by the Canucks execs, therefore confirming the team's interest. At first, it was unimaginable that he'd be sliding out of the top 10, but the latest report has suggested a possibility that he may be available when the Canucks walk onto the stage.
Cam Robinson, an Eliteprospect amateur scout, was on Sekeres and Price today and discussed the star in the making and what he reported him only confirm why he should be the Canucks' pick if he were still available in 2 weeks:
"Arguably the smartest player in this crop, rivalling Bedard. My colleague
@MitchLBrown
manually tracks data, he possessed the best playmaking profile since McDavid."
You can't go wrong with a hard-working centerman with an extremely elevated IQ. Benson was the author of 98 points in 60 WHL games this season, among the best in this year's class. In our heads, it is quite clear that Benson owns all the tools he needs to be a successful Canucks; despite all that, do you think Allvin should prioritize a defenseman over Benson if given the opportunity?
