The Canucks managed to pull out the win last night against the Buffalo Sabres in regulation time. They were playing on the road and the goals were piling up for both teams.

Yesterday, I wrote one of the main factors to beating the Sabres was going to be shutting down Tage Thompson. The Vancouver Canucks did that with aplomb. They managed to hold onto the lead and contain the Buffalo Sabres just long enough to eek out the win in the full 60 minutes. Plenty of boys in the green and blue played great last night, but here are the top 3:

#1: BO HORVAT
GOALS-1 ASSISTS-2 POINTS-3 SOG-8

The Captain of the Vancouver Canucks, Bo Horvat had another stellar performance for his team. He collected 3 points on the night they beat the Buffalo Sabres 5-4. He won a face-off draw clean in the offensive zone and set up J.T. Miller for an easy goal, catching the entire Sabre's roster off guard. Bo was then fed a pass from Brock Boeser and Elias Pettersson in the slot that he didn't hesitate burying on Craig Anderson. It was a great game for Horvat, even as the trade rumours start to swirl even harder with his accelerated play.

#2: ELIAS PETTERSSON
GOALS-1 ASSISTS-1 POINTS-2 SOG-1

Elias Pettersson has been quietly the best point producer on the Vancouver Canucks this year. With how much buzz and electricity Horvat has been generating, it's hard to believe that Pettersson is still beating Horvat in the points department. He's almost effortless out on the ice and his tip-in goal against the Sabres last night is proof of that. He didn't even look like he moved his stick and it was a perfect deflection in the back of the net. He also helped set up Horvat later in the night with the help of Spencer Martin and Brock Boeser when they caught the Sabres on a line change.

#3: Luke Schenn
GOALS-0 ASSISTS-0 POINTS-0 SOG-4

Luke Schenn is the NHL league leader in hits. It's nice to have grit on the team and when you combine that with the hard hitting tenacity and defensive checking of Schenn, you have an all around quality defenceman. He's shown he still has value to the Canucks defensive core and should definitely not be traded. Luke Schenn played a hard grinding game last night and was given the Canucks Championship Belt awarded to best player of the game (determined by the team) in the locker room.
