The Rangers and the Lightning gave us a preview of a probable future playoff meeting on Wednesday night action. As expected, energy, intensity, emotion, and dirtiness were significant parts of this tilt.

During that first period, Ligthning's winger Corey Perry enters the corner for a puck battle with the Rangers' defenceman and captain, Jacob Trouba. The Rangers' captain fell badly after Perry came in and slew-footed him. Trouba fell down his head gave strongly against the ice. He immediately retreated to the locker room. Here's the sequence:

As expected, Trouba did not return to the game and the Rangers then qualified as day-to-day. Hopefully, Trouba's injury isn't too bad, since the Rangers will be entering the playoffs and he undoubtedly plays an important part in their defensive core.

Obviously, Corey Perry is known across the NHL as one of the league's best gentlemen (LOL). Should the NHL intervene in this one?
