WATCH | Young player two-hand whacks his opponent's head (video)
A scary and dangerous scene took place in a youth hockey game recently and it's causing a bit of a stir on Twitter as to what the punishment should be for one of the players involved.
After being shoved by a bigger player than him, in the video below, number 20 on the white team decided to bring his stick above his shoulder and whack number 62 on the black team in the helmet.
The official quickly rushed over to grab number 20 and it's unclear what happened after the video ends, but it's safe to assume that he was ejected from the game and could be suspended from his league.
In an instance like this in minor hockey, where these kids look to be in the age range of 8-11, what should happen in terms of supplemental discipline? A few game suspension? A season-long ban? Lifetime ban? All of those options should be on the table as a play like the one in the video below is extremely dangerous and could cause a significant injury.
