The standoff between the Anaheim Ducks and star forward Trevor Zegras has finally come to an end just over a week before the beginning of the 2023-24 season.
According to TSN's Pierre LeBrun, the Ducks and Zegras have agreed to terms on a three-year contract worth $17.25 million ($5.75 million AAV).
"Zegras deal: $5.75 M AAV x 3 years with Ducks" LeBrun said in a post on X.
Zegras, 22, became a restricted free agent back in July, but contract negotiations between his camp and the Ducks don't go so well up until recently. Both sides were comfortable going with a three-year pact, but couldn't agree on an AAV, with the Ducks reportedly low-balling their star forward.
The Bedford, New York native appeared in 81 games for Anaheim last season, putting up 65 points (23 goals, 42 assists), 88 penalty minutes and was a minus-24.
