Left handed shot winger, 5'10'' and 192 pounds, he's been recently drawing comparisons to the Wild's superstar, Kirill Kaprizov, who was also a late-round draft pick. The Russian had a break out season last year in the KHL where he collected nothing less 54 points in 56 games.
The latest reports suggests that the Avs are finalizing the contracts to bring him over to North-America.
As a comparison, before joining the Canucks, Andrei Kuzmenko collected 53 points in 47 games, as a 26-year-old, whereas Kovalenko just dit that as a 23-year-old.
The Russian would potentially be joining an already stacked offence made of Nathan Mackinnon, Mikko Rantanen and Gabriel Landeskog. If he ends up breaking out like Kuzmenko did, it's a safe bet to assume that the Avs are going to be serious cup contenders.
