Currently on the 1-week holiday break, the Vancouver Canucks are still evaluating what their best course of action is to upgrade their team, but with Filip Hronek still on the injured reserve, it seems the Jim Rutherford and Patrik Allvin are still not in any rush to make a deal.
With Filip Hronek still out, The Canucks will be without their star d-man and 1st pairing partner to Quinn Hughes for another 5 weeks, after he fell awkwardly against the boards when they faced the Pittsburgh Penguins in late November.
Vancouver Canucks Still Not In A Rush To Make A Trade Amid the Injury to Filip Hronek
Despite an injury to their second-best defenseman, it doesn't appear that the Vancouver Canucks are in any rush to add to their blue line.
Canucks President of Hockey Operations Jim Rutherford said to Ben Kuzma of The Province that the team is always looking at the options to make the Canucks better, but are hoping that some players within the organization are going to continue to step up, so a trade does not need to be so urgent.
We're always looking to see if there's a change we can make to make us better. The work never stops - your roster can always be better." Rutherford said.
He added, "Now we get to watch to see if the other players can step up and play a few more minutes,
The guys worked hard at it and played the right way and stuck together. That's how you have to win. Now we have to carry that over to how we play at home."
The Vancouver Canucks' defensive group still have a big hole to fill, and it is going to be interesting to see what moves management makes when the holiday roster freeze ends.
