New York Rangers Make Desperate Push to Land J.T. Miller - Will the Vancouver Canucks Let Him Go?
The New York Rangers are in the midst of a major overhaul, trading away captain Jacob Trouba and former 2nd overall pick Kaapo Kakko in the span of days, but their recent efforts could be looking to re-acquire Vancouver Canucks superstar J.T. Miller.
Despite all of the drama and feuds surrounding Vancouver Canucks forwards J.T. Miller and Elias Pettersson, iit has already been made clear that Canucks general manager Patrik Allvin is not interested in parting ways with either of them.
But, as in all scenarios, every team has a price, and with the Rangers being desperate to turn their season around, they may offer a lot more than usual in order to land their former star.
Drafted by the Rangers 15th overall back in 2011, Miller spent the better part of 8 season in the big apple, playing solid, but never blooming into the star they always wanted.
He only blossomed fully once he arrived in Vancouver solidifying himself as one of the games best canters.
New York Rangers looking to re-acquire J.T. Miller from the Vancouver Canucks?
Even if the Rangers do decided to make a push for J.T. Miller, it will not be an easy task by any means.
Even before Filip Hronek went down with an injury, it has been well documented that Patrik Allvin is looking to make an upgrade on defense.
For one think the Canucks would demand a major player and prospects in return, and the likes of K'Andre Miller or Chris Kreider are not going to do it.
Although very unfeasible, the only player that would make sense in return for Miller would be defenseman Adam Fox, and Chris Drury will not like that option.
Per Forever Blue Shirts.com, they have a different point of view:
The Rangers would have to send significant assets the other way, perhaps starting with young forward Alexis Lafreniere and including some other players and/or draft picks. They would surely like to have underachieving center Mika Zibanejad be a part of the deal, but Zibanejad has a full no-move clause, and the Canucks aren't likely to be interested in an apparently declining player who has five seasons left at an $8.5 million cap hit after 2024-25. - Tom Castro Regardless of the Rangers desperation, the Canucks surely do not want to part ways with Miller, but, you never know what the future holds.
