LATEST | Canucks' prospect emerging as a first round talent: Confirmed steal
While it's early to declare, the 2023 draft looks like it could wind up a game changer for the Vancouver Canucks.
The team's first round pick, Tom Willander, has enjoyed a great season with Boston University, but it's a Canucks' third rounder that has been perhaps the biggest riser from last year's draft.
Hunter Brzustewicz (good luck play-by-play announcers) is the top defenceman for the OHL leading Kitchener Rangers, where the puck moving D has put up a staggering 46 points in 28 games.
The twitter account @CanucksPlace pointed out that Brzustewicz is putting up better numbers in his D+1 season than some of the league's best prospects have in years past.
The Michigan native is already making scouts throughout the NHL question their picks from last June, and he'll likely be a staple on Team USA's blue line at the World Juniors.
The Canucks are still interested in adding a right side defenceman for this season, but their future outlook in the position is strong thanks to the 2023 draft.
