Arshdeep Bains Demoted as Vancouver Canucks Head Coach Rick Tocchet Hands Pius Suter A Big Promotion
After spending basically the entire season grinding away quietly the 4th line for the Vancouver Canucks, Pius Suter is finally getting his shot in the top-6 as rookie forward Arshdeep Bains has been handed a demotion.
There has been a lot of buzz surrounding Arshdeep Bains this season, especially after he scored the first goal of his young NHL career one week ago. But after getting multiple chances to play with the top forwards, from the looks of it at practice, he is sliding back down to the 4th line.
Pius Suter handed promotion by Canucks head coach Rick Tocchet
To take his place in the top-6, is 28-year-old Switzerland native, Pius Suter. He had his best game of the season, scoring 2 goals and being the main contributor to the tight 3-2 win over the San Jose Sharks on Saturday.
his game-winner to make it 3-2 with just 26 seconds remaining in regulation was his true act of service. The Canucks winning in overtime is not exactly what they're known for.
His opportunity came halfway through the game, when Rick Tocchet let him take shifts with Conor Garland and Elias Pettersson on the second line, and the chemistry was apparent right away.
In practice today, ahead of the second out of three games of their California road trip against the Anaheim Ducks, the lines appeared to be shaken up up quite a bit, most notably, seeing Suter along side Garland and Pettersson once again, and Arshdeep Bains moving down tot he 4th-line.
Obviously nothing is 100% confirmed for the game tomorrow (November 5th), but all season long the lines in practice, have directly translated to what we have seen in games.
