Jake DeBrusk shares how he feels about being a member of the Vancouver Canucks.
Vancouver Canucks General Manager Patrik Allvin went out on July 1st, the opening day of free agency, and made a big splash, signing forward Jake DeBrusk to a massive seven-year contract worth $5.5 million per season.

Amid the team's road trip, Jake DeBrusk sat down for an interview with Harman Dayal of The Athletic and shared how he's feeling about being a member of the Vancouver Canucks organization.
DeBrusk told Dayal that he was really excited to get to Vancouver to start training camp back in September and said that he felt like a rookie again, admitting he was a bit nervous as well.
"I was more excited but I was pretty nervous actually for training camp. I felt like a rookie because I didn't know anything about the drills. It was kinda funny, I like being nervous. I like feeling those feelings because it obviously means you care, but it (also) usually brings the best out of me." DeBrusk said.
The 28-year-old added that the home opener is when it began to sink in that he was a Vancouver Canuck, skating onto the ice for the pregame ceremony and hearing his name introduced and the fans cheering him on.
"The home opener for us was when it clued in for real. When the crowd's going and your number's getting called and you're going out there, you're like «Alright, this is it» (laughs). I know what I signed up for obviously but until you actually walk the walk of it (you don't know what it's going to be like). It's a moment I won't forget, that's for sure."
It's been a bit of a slow start to the season for Jake DeBrusk, only scoring his first goal as a Vancouver Canucks scoring his first goal as a Vancouver Canuck during Saturday's win over the San Jose Sharks, who were without North Vancouver native and 2024 first-over pick Macklin Celebrini.
With the first goal under his belt, expect Jake DeBrusk's confidence to be high, which will allow him to start producing more for the Canucks, something Rick Tocchet's squad will need desperately.
