It appears that the Vancouver Canucks made the right decision when the free agency window opened back in July to sign forward Jake DeBrusk.

While Jake DeBrusk might have had a pretty slow start to his time in Vancouver, he's been on a bit of a hot streak since the calendar switched to November and has continued that strong play into December.

During his hot streak, Jake DeBrusk found the back of the net for the first time at Rogers Arena in his NHL career, which came on Friday night against the Columbus Blue Jackets.

"I never got one in this building until tonight, and it feels pretty good," DeBrusk said. "It's a kind of a greasy goal. I'm not going to lie; it wasn't a pretty one. But I didn't care how it went in. Just seeing it go across that line was nice."

Jake DeBrusk leading the National Hockey League in goals since early-November

Since scoring his first goal as a member of the Vancouver Canucks on November 2nd against San Jose, Jake DeBrusk has been a scoring machine.

According to Dave Hall of Canucks Army, Jake DeBrusk is tied with Colorado Avalanche forward Mikko Rantanen for the National Hockey League lead in goals since November 2nd with 14.

Edmonton Oilers star forward Leon Draisaitl isn't too far behind with 12 goals in that span.

Jake DeBrusk also has the second-most goals scored by any of the unrestricted free agents that signed this summer, trailing Tampa Bay's Jake Guentzel, who 16 including a hat trick during last night's win over Calgary.

While it's still very early on in Jake DeBrusk's contract with the Vancouver Canucks, it's looking like General Manager Patrik Allvin made the right choice in signing him for $5.5 million per season, rather than trading for and extending someone like Jake Guentzel, who got $9 million AAV from the Tampa Bay Lightning.
