Earlier this month, Patrik Allvin and the Vancouver Canucks brought another goaltender into the fold when they agreed to terms on a two-year, two-way contract with Jiri Patera, who spent the previous four seasons in the Vegas Golden Knights organization.
In just over a month and a half, the Vancouver Canucks will gather in Penticton, British Columbia for training camp and recently, images of the mask that Jiri Patera will wear then and for 2024-25 season have circulated online.
The primary colour of Patera's mask is grey with the Vancouver Canucks logo on one side, Abbotsford Canucks logo on the other side and features a big V on the top of the helmet in the team's colours.
On the back of Jiri Patera's mask, it features the logo for a Czech-based charity and nonprofit organization - Saves Help, along with his nickname 'Paty' and the number he will be wearing with the Vancouver Canucks, which is 73. Also on the back of Patera's mask is another smaller Vancouver Canucks logo and the flag of his home nation - Czechia.
Patera will likely head into training camp competing with Arturs Silovs for the backup role behind Thatcher Demko. Don't be surprised to see Patera and Silovs getting plenty of minutes early on in the Canucks' pre-season schedule. If Patera fails to earn the backup job in Vancouver, he'll be the starter down in the AHL for Abbotsford.
Last season, Patera appeared in six games in the NHL for the Vegas Golden Knights where he had a record of 1-3-1 with a 3.98 goals against average and an .893 save percentage. He also had a record of 11-10-4 in 25 games for the AHL's Henderson Silver Knights.
