The Canucks just announced that they had traded their 2019 first-round pick, Vasily Podkolzin, to the Edmonton Oilers. In exchange, the Canucks acquire a 4th Round Pick.
Allvin addressed the trade in the team's official press release:
Podkolzin, now 23, began his NHL journey with the Canucks when they made him the 10th overall pick of the 2019 draft. Pick that could've been used to draft players like Matthew Boldy, Cole Caufield, and Thomas Harley. During his time in the organization, Podz participated in 137 NHL contests, registering 18 goals and 35 points. He also spent some time with the Abbostford Canucks where he tallied 46 points in 72 outings.
With this move, Allvin now clears one roster spot, and we're hopeful it could open the door to another signing or trade. With this deal coming to a conclusion, the Canucks now hold the rights to 7 draft picks in the 2025 NHL amateur draft, as stated in the Canucks' official release:
On top of it all, this now gives more cap room for the Allvin to play with as he cleared an addition million with Podkolzin's departure.
