The Vancouver Canucks continued their three-game California road trip on Tuesday night with a stop in Anaheim against the Ducks and from start to finish, Rick Tocchet's group played very well.
Thanks to a three-assist night from Quinn Hughes and Kevin Lankinen stopping 21 of 22 shots he faced, the Canucks were able to walk away with a 5-1 victory, extending their win streak to two games.
As mentioned, Quinn Hughes registered three assists during last night's game in Anaheim, which took him to 300 in his career so far. In doing so, Hughes became the third-fastest defenceman in NHL history to reach that mark by achieving it in 376 games. The only two players who did it faster in their respective careers were Bobby Orr and Brian Leetch.
Hughes is now up to 12 points (two goals, ten assists) in 11 games this season, which is good enough for fifth in the NHL right now among defenceman and 11 back of Colorado Avalanche blueliner Cale Makar for first place.
The 25-year-old is well on his way to becoming the greatest defenceman in the history of the Vancouver Canucks and is just 64 points back of Alexander Edler, who was honoured by the team last month, for the most all-time in franchise history.
Vancouver Canucks fans are lucky to be able to watch a player as talented as Quinn Hughes on nightly basis and yes, it's very very early, but when all is said and done, it wouldn't be a surprise to see the Orlando native be inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame.
