MAJOR | Tom Wilson drives through the net: Goalie throws wild tantrum on him
We've known for a while now that goaltenders are a different breed of hockey player. Elvis Merzlikins offered a testament to that theory, while the Blue Jackets and the Capitals were opposed.
MERZLIKINS THROWS A TANTRUM ON TOM WILSON
The game was tied at 2 when it went to overtime. Tom Wilson had an opportunity to break through Columbus' defence but kept going and ran the goaltender. Elvis Merzlikins wasn't having any of it and jumped forward moments after.
Merzlikins ended up being the only player penalized, ultimately costing the game. Alex Ovechkin finally broke through his goal-scoring drought and capitalized on the power play from Merzlikins's tantrum. Loyal to himself, he launched a rocket from his office:
