BREAKING | Major Sports clothing company refused to do business with the NHL - Didn't even submit a bid
It should come as no surprise to anyone following the NHL under Gary Bettman's leadership that the recent news regarding the league's jersey rights is not unexpected.
Ali Murji reported that Nike did not even make an offer for the NHL's jersey rights, which were awarded to Fanatics on Tuesday, much to the disappointment of fans. According to Murji, Nike believed the potential profit margins were insignificant enough to justify the investment.
Nike currently holds the jersey deals for the MLB, NFL, and NBA, three of the four Major Sports in America. They even supply the uniforms for the 25 top ranks of IIHF teams. It clearly indicates that Nike chooses not to do any form of business with the NHL.
