The Canadiens have been in a retool ever since they made their way to the Stanley Cup during the covid-year. They acquired seasoned veterans after their cup run and now they may be looking to sell.

On a recent radio show RDS Game Analyst, Marc Denis, made quite the statement when revealed that the Canadiens would be considering moving on from three veteran defensemen Mike Matheson, Joel Edmundston, and David Savard.

It's commonly known that Patrik Allvin and the Canucks are still on the hunt for a right-handed defenseman and David Savard surely fits the bill. An excellent two-way defenseman who excels in his zone that could be an interesting option to take Tyler Myers' spot once he leaves town.

Savard, a 33-year-old defenseman who's won the cup with the Tampa Bay Lightning will be making $3.5M for the next two seasons. He's definitely known to be a stay-at-home type defenseman with the ability to make a good and strong first pass, he'd make a great compliment to an excellent skater in the likes of Quinn Hughes.

Savard could potentially replace the void left open by Luke Schenn when the beloved veteran was traded away to the Maple Leafs, Savard has constantly been taking big minutes in Montreal, should Allvin consider taking a run at him?
