LATEST | Former 1st Rounder on Waivers and the Canucks could add a former blue-chip prospect to their roster
Today again we've witnessed quite the waiver activity, Libor Hajek was sent down for the purpose of assignment following the mega trade that involved the St. Louis Blues and the New York Ranger yesterday. Today presents a new opportunity for teams to take a chance on what was once considered a blue-chip prospect.
The son of former Stanley Cup winner Brian Bellows, Kieffer, finds himself again on the waivers this year. The 24-year-old winger was claimed from the Islanders earlier this year and has not convinced the Flyers' management that he belonged to the game's highest level.
The Islanders made him the 19th selection of the 2016 Draft and back in the day, he was foreseen as quite the player.
'' Kieffer Bellows is a skilled power forward who can dominate games. He possesses high-end puckhandling ability and a crisp, accurate release on his shot. He is a proficient forechecker and loves to win puck battles, which stands out as a consistent part of his game''
- Curtis Joe, EP 2016 The Canucks have shown their willingness to acquire players in their early 20s who have yet to reach their full potential, Bellows is mainly a winger, but is also listed as a forward who can play down the middle.
While the risk and the cost are next-to-none, should the Canucks claim him?
