The Calgary Flames' coaching search is beginning to intensify and several candidates are emerging for the vacancy.

Among the names mentioned by Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman include Kirk Muller, Alex Tanguay, Andrew Brunette and former Vancouver Canucks Head Coach Travis Green.

Friedman mentioned in his most recent '32 Thoughts' podcast that Green is on the Flames' radar.

"I do believe Muller is going to get a look there...Travis Green is another guy on their radar, I did not mention Andrew Brunette but I should, the whole Huberdeau connection I think is not insignificant" Friedman said.

Green's time with the Canucks can be viewed as very unsuccessful. He was fired just over a month into his fifth season with Vancouver and only helped them to one playoff appearance which came in 2020, where they lost to the Vegas Golden Knights in seven games in the second round.

There are probably much better options out there for the Calgary Flames, but for now, it appears they're willing to consider anyone as they look to find the right fit for their current roster.
