The Canucks have entered the selling season, the one you get to when you're entering a rebuild/retool and where you must trade any asset holding value that's not going to be part of the team's new era.

Apparently the team has rendered its decision on the veteran defenseman Luke Schenn. Obviously a player of his salary, mixed with his experience, and his style of plays gathers loads of interest from team's that wish to make a deep playoff run.

Elliotte Friedman shared the mic with Jeff Marek on the 32 Thoughts Podcast earlier this morning and they revealed a big bunch of information the defenseman's future.

David Pagnotta, Insider from the Fourth Period also added on the Schenn's case:

"Another name to keep tabs on, as I just noted on @TSN690, is Luke Schenn. Lots of talk this morning that things are getting close there. CGY/BOS still in mix, heard TB is out. Price: 3rd RD pick +"

He confirms that Calgary and Boston are still very much in the race, but Tampa Bay as drawn out of it. It's been rumored before that the Canucks and previously refused a 2nd Round Pick for their defenseman.

Schenn is extremely well-liked in the organization's surrounding I'd be extremely suprised to see him move for a 3rd Round Selection. I would like for the Canucks to acquire a bad contract in exchange to bolster Schenn's value. A proposal was already drawn up between the Bruins and the Canucks suggesting they'd send Mike Reilly ($2M AAV until the end of the season) and their 2023 1st Round Pick for Schenn.

Would you like that trade to materialize?
