It isn't a secret that Luke Schenn was very much appreciated within the franchise, in the locker room but also within the team's front offices. The way the Canucks' management group took care of Bruce Boudreau's firing caused a fiasco and now that details are starting to emerge, we're getting a clearer idea of the way things went down.

Bruce Boudreau was on the Jeff Marek Show today and revealed the identity of the one player that stepped up big-time for him when needed:

Boudreau pointed out, that it was no other than Luke Schenn that stepped up to management when the team's management was a fiasco. Schenn went up there and tried to talk sense into them, but it was too late as the management's behavior had already done the worst.

To have veteran guys such as Schenn stepping up to the decisions of the management group truly speaks to how this situation was poorly handled. Schenn came to Vancouver from the Tampa Bay Lightning which isn't only a top organization, but they know what to do to build a contender as they took 3 trips to the finals in the last 3 years. Schenn absolutely knows what a winning organization looks like.

Once Boudreau's contract is up, will definitely have more details on our hands. For the time being, the fact that he shared this detail about Luke Schenn truly indicates how big of a leader he was in the Canucks' organization. Should they try and bring him back this summer? I'm sure the Canucks could use his leadership!
