WATCH: Craig Button goes on an absolute rant against Rutherford
Jim Rutherford opened himself up to criticism when he took a stand in yesterday's press conference. Since then the critics are coming from literally every media outlet and the renowned TSN Analyst, Craig Button, took a stand on the subject.
Button took no shortcuts and went straight at it when asked about the current fiasco in Vancouver. On Donnie and Dhali absolutely roasted him when he commented on the way he'd been treating Bruce Boudreau and the coaching staff:
"It's deplorable what Jim Rutherford is doing to Bruce Boudreau and it's been going on since last spring.."
Rutherford has openly criticized his coach's strategies and admitted that he'd been shopping for his replacement during the press conference. It was even leaked that Rick Tocchet may be the successor behind the bend after the all-star and it's been out there so much that it's safe to say that we're only waiting on the official statement from the team.
He took his rant a step further when he was aired on TSN:
«I'll give him an A' for giving himself an F'»
Button started by saying that everyone that merely followed the game of Hockey knew what the issue with the Canucks was. The defensive structure of this team was the real issue and he has not made any movement in that regard. Something the Canucks' management group should remember:
«The mess on the ice is only matched by the mess off the ice and off the ice has been a major problem»
He ended his statement by questioning Rutherford's ability to conduct this retooling or rebuild, whatever he wants to call this maneuver. Is he wrong? Is Rutherford the man that'll get the job done for the Canucks?
