Possibly going down as one of the top flops in Canucks draft history, Jake Virtanen will be remembered for all but the right reasons.

The Canucks used the 6th overall pick in the 2014 draft to select the BC. Native, few picks ahead of a certain William Nylander, Nikolaj Ejlhers, Kevin Fiala and Dylan Larkin.

Virtanen eventually played parts of 7 seasons in the Canucks organization registering 36 points in 69 outings during his best season. A tumultuous sequence of overly mediatized events led to his departure from the NHL. The forward shared his time between the KHL and the DEL since then.

According to Virtanen's Instagram, it appears he's taken giant steps in his personal life as he's now engaged:

The 27-year-old pro hockey player posted images of his proposal to his partner Emily on Instagram. Virtanen popped the question in Paris, with the Eiffel Tower in the backdrop.

A shared Instagram post featured images of the ring and the proposal, all with the famous French landmark in the background.

Congratulations, and we wish to send our best wishes to the newly engaged couple.
