The NHL's trade deadline was set to take place on Friday, March 8th, but the AHL Trade Deadline was today. The Canucks took the opportunity and brokered a last-minute deal.
The Canucks announced that they had traded the 22-years-old Quinn Schmiemann to the Tampa Bay Lightning in return for Future Considerations:

The Abbotsford Canucks have traded Quinn Schmiemann to the @SyracuseCrunch for future considerations.
Schmiemann has been with the Canucks for the last two seasons, spending the majority of his time with the Abbotsford Canucks. Through 56 AHL games, he amassed 12 points.
