However, amongst the Canucks' upcoming unrestricted free agents is where concern is raised. Elias Lindholm, Sam Lafferty, Teddy Blueger, Dakota Joshua, Tyler Myers, Ian Cole, Nikita Zadorov, Mark Friedman and Casey DeSmith are the players who will be free as air on July 1st.
The latest reports have confirmed that the Canucks have made it clear that they'd be looking to extend Dakota Joshua, Teddy Blueger and Tyler Myers first, leaving big names out of the conversation. Rick Dhaliwal added to that earlier when he confirmed that the Canucks and Nikita Zadorov had not yet entered the extension conversations. He even added that the Canucks would be looking to re-sign Myers first because of his handiness:
Dhaliwal added information regarding the aging veteran Ian Cole, whose agent confirmed that no extension talks had happened yet. One thing is sure. However, both players have indicated that they would love to return to the Canucks next season:
One thing is quite promising on the Canucks end. As Dhaliwal stated, every pending free agent in Vancouver wants to re-sign. The payers have made Vancouver the prized destination it was once for free agents, and it'll only make things easier for Allgin and his crew when they enter extension negotiations.
The Canucks will have lots to deal with in the upcoming months. Hopefully, they will find a way to manage things to make the team as competitive as possible.
