LATEST | IIHF Highlights Arturs Silovs: The National Hero
The Men's World Championship is underway in Riga, Latvia and this year's edition is delivering big-time surprises. Arturs Silovs made his NHL debut this year and once the Abbotsford Canucks' season ended he joined the Latvian team for the tournament.
The young netminder delivered an outstanding performance and stopped 22 pucks to lead his team to a 4-3 OT win. The IIHF highlighted this unreal save he made moments before his team scored the game-winning goal:
''Arturs Silovs doing his magic again.🧙♀️ #CZELAT #IIHFWorlds
@lhf_lv @Canucks''
''HOMETOWN HERO! 🦸
Arturs Silovs forced OT with this massive save, which led Latvia to their first-ever win against Czechia at the Men's World Hockey Championship happening IN Latvia! #IIHFWorlds ''
Silovs' progression has definitely been a thing to watch. The 22-year-old Latvian netminder has commanded the net in Abbotsford and was elected as the team's MVP. Allvin has already stated that he'd be in consideration for the backup job behind Demko, can he beat Spencer Martin to it?
Here are the game's highlights:
