On June 3rd, 1997, the Vancouver Canucks unveiled their brand new uniforms that saw the introduction of the Orca logo, along with a navy blue, sky blue, maroon and silver colour scheme. The move away from their famous Skate logo at the time didn't sit too well with fans.
The Canucks wore this version of the Orca jerseys from 1997 to 2007 and in between, also had two alternate uniforms - a dark blue/maroon gradient fade jersey with the Orca logo, which was the inspiration for their first Reverse Retro, and had a throwback 'Stick in the Rink' jersey for the 2006-07 campaign.
When the NHL switched to the Reebok Edge jersey, the Canucks, along with other teams, used this as an opportunity to change their uniforms. The Canucks kept the Orca logo, but changed their colour scheme to blue, green and white, much like their first jerseys from 1970 to 1978. The other big change with these uniforms was the introduction of an arched 'VANCOUVER' wordmark above the Orca logo. With some slight alterations, including the removal of the wordmark, these are the uniforms that the Canucks still don to this day.
However, fans are still wanting the Canucks to turn the clock back to 1990s on a full-time basis and use the Skate uniforms as their home and away jerseys. In 2019 for their 50th anniversary, they brought back the black version of the uniform and after the fan reaction, decided to bring it back once again, in 2022, as a full-time alternate with some changes to the sleeves.
