Kevin Lankinen Gone: Canucks Head Coach Rick Tocchet Announces Starting Goaltender Against Boston Bruins
The Vancouver Canucks' homestand continues tonight as they host Elias Lindholm, Nikita Zadorov and the Boston Bruins at Rogers Arena on Hockey Night in Canada.
Earlier today, the Vancouver Canucks announced a handful of roster moves including the emergency call-up of Latvian goaltender Arturs Silovs from the American Hockey League's Abbotsford Canucks.
"General Manager Patrik Allvin announced today that D Mark Friedman, F Max Sasson and F Aatu Räty and have been recalled from Abbotsford (AHL).
G Artūrs Silovs has also been recalled on emergency basis (Goaltender Exemption)." the Canucks said. After the morning skate, Rick Tocchet met with reporters and explained that the reason for Arturs Silovs being called up is because Kevin Lankinen is going through the flu right now, along with Derek Forbort, and both have been advised to stay home.
"Rick Tocchet says the #Canucks have an illness going through their group right now, and that's why Forbort and Lankinen are absent and not expected to play tonight." Brendan Batchelor of Sportsnet said.

While meeting with the media, Rick Tocchet mentioned that goaltender Thatcher Demko will get the start between the pipes, which shouldn't come as much of a surprise to anyone.
Tocchet also shared that Erik Brannstrom, who's been scratched for the last couple of games, will draw back into the lineup tonight against the Boston Bruins with Derek Forbort out due to the flu.
"DeBrusk-Pettersson-Sherwood
Hoglander-Miller-Boeser
Joshua-Suter-Garland
Sasson-Blueger-Heinen
Räty
Hughes-Myers
Soucy-Juulsen
Brannstrom-Friedman
Desharnais" Jeff Paterson shared this afternoon. It's been a pretty successful homestand for the Vancouver Canucks so far as they have a record of 2-1-1, with wins coming against the Columbus Blue Jackets last Friday and a shutout against the defending Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers on Thursday ngiht.
Puck drop for tonight's game against the Boston Bruins is set for 7 pm PT and can be viewed across Canada on CBC and the main Sportsnet channels.
