In what seems like a season that in just filled with bad news, the Vancouver Canucks have just confirmed the unfortunate rumor about Elias Pettersson and the rest of the season.
The Vancouver Canucks 2024-2025 season has surely been one to forget as it was made official that they were mathematically eliminated from making the NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs.
On top of that, it was a season filled with drama, injuries and rumors, in which one was just confirmed for their star forward Elias Pettersson.
Elias Pettersson "Shut Down" for the season
Last weekend NHL insider Elliotte Friedman reported that it was highly unlikely that EP40 would be returning from an upper body injury that he suffered against J.T. Miller and the New York Rangers back on March 22nd.
«Pettersson has not given up hope on playing this year,» but according to an unnamed source, it is «unlikely» he will see any game action in the final stretch of the year. «Right now, at best, it's fair to say that that is uncertain,» Friedman added, which is also a fitting way to describe Elias Pettersson's 2024-2025 campaign at large.
But, with no making the postseason, head coach Rick Tocchet did deliver the unfortunate news that confirmed Pettersson will not be playing any of the remaining games for the Canucks this season.

On top of the drama and criticism EP40 endured through his first season after signing a 8-year, $92.8 million contract with an annual average value of $11.6 million, he also finished with his worst statistical numbers of his career, scoring just 15 goals with 30 assists for 45 points in 64 games.
He will need to have a full offseason of training and preparation if he wants to have a bounce back year in 2025-2026.
