Now that the dust has been settled and the trade has been made official by both clubs and the National Hockey League, Vancouver Canucks General Manager Patrik Allvin has come out with his first comments on the move.
Allvin thanked J.T. Miller for his passion for the city of Vancouver and the Canucks organization and that he was a good leader for the team.
He went on to add that this wasn't an easy deal to get done, but the Canucks are happy with the return they got from the New York Rangers, saying that Filip Chytil and Victor Mancini are good additions for the organization.
"On behalf of the entire Canucks organization I want to thank J.T. for his time here in Vancouver. J.T. was a passionate impact player and good leader for our hockey team. Moving him was not an easy decision but we are pleased with our return from the Rangers. Both Filip and Victor are good additions for our club and we are excited to see what they bring to us on the ice." Allvin said.
Miller, 31, spent parts of six seasons with the Vancouver Canucks after being dealt to the organization in June of 2019 from the Tampa Bay Lightning.
During his time with the Vancouver Canucks organization, the East Palestine, Ohio native had 437 points (247 goals, 427 assists), 292 penalty minutes and was a plus-40 in 404 games.
It might not have been the ending that anyone wanted or expected, but J.T. Miller, aside from this season, has been an offensive leader for the Vancouver Canucks, registering three years in a row above a point-per-game including 103 points in 2023-24.
The Vancouver Canucks will face off against J.T. Miller on Saturday, March 22nd at Madison Square Garden with a 10 am PT puck drop, which will be on national television in Canada.
