MAJOR | Canucks could pull an extremely bold move and add a Frozen Four winner
The Canucks have been the most active team on the NCAA free-agents market and it appears they aren't done with their shopping just yet. From what we've seen so far, the Canucks have done well adding Akito Hirose (who's been stellar since coming in), Cole McWard who's been good as well, and Max Sasson who's playing with Abbotsford.
Per the reports brought by Rick Dhaliwal, the Canucks have shown interest in Quinnipiac University captain and most recent winner of the renowned Frozen Four Zach Metsa.
Metsa, 24, is a 5'9'' and 181 pounds puck-moving defenseman. A right-handed shot blueliner who dominated the NCAA for the last three years managing nothing less than 24 goals, 76 assists for 100 points in only 111 games, with an impressive +79 differential over these 3 years.
Although he's a small-format defenseman, his two-way game and ability to defend definitely get the job done, the ceiling to his potential could be extremely intriguing. The Canucks have stated that they were looking to add depth and talent to their defenseman pool, should Allvin pull the trigger and add another NCAA blueliner?
Metsa notably notched 3 assists in Quinnipiac's 3-2 win in the Frozen Four final.
